All right, so I wanted to sit down and talk with you about the history of conservatism and about

where modern conservatism, as we're experiencing right now,

which is different from how we experienced it 20 years ago when I first came into the adult world,

how it got here and whether this was inevitable or contingent.

Before we do that, because God knows, the world is always with us, and we can't just look back at history.
