Summary

At CrimeCon London last weekend, I had the pleasure of interviewing author Jason Wilson about his excellent new book, 'The Old Man And Me'. In front of a live audience, we chatted about why he wrote his book about growing up and living with his gangster father.

The book is no nonsense and talks about the reality of crime, not the glamourised versions you hear about elsewhere, and in this interview Jason was very open about his life. I hope you enjoy and there is link to the book below.

My father died in 2015. I'd worked for him over the years. He was a career criminal right from the 70s,

1:11.4

right from the age of bank robbers and frauds, right into the era of the drug dealer.

1:15.8

And I'd drawn that period I'd worked for him and when I worked for him I thought

1:19.8

it'd be great if one day someone could write this down and show what it was really like

1:23.0

rather than what you'd seen films and in other books and then like 15 years later he passed

1:28.6

and after a period I did think it'd be nice to write all this down write his life down

In my city he was known for becoming a millionaire and imploding by robbing a bank and really

bulls in the whole thing up. But he had a long career as a criminal and he did go very high up in

1:53.4

nice to write his story. But also the first approach was really to do a standard book which is
