I recorded each one with musical accompaniment in front of a live audience and I sat down

for a conversation with the author after the story.

Today's story was written by Nora K. Jemisin and recorded in front of an audience in her

hometown of Brooklyn, New York.

Nora is the author of the highly acclaimed trilogy of novels known collectively as The Broken

Earth.

Nora's novels earned her back-to-back Hugo Awards for Best Novel.

She's also written many, many amazing short stories.

Today's story is one of her older stories, first published about 10 years ago, but Nora

just published a brand new collection of amazing speculative fiction called How Long Till

Black Future Month.
