Hi, I'm Lovar Burton and this is Mavar Burton Reads.

In every episode I hand pick a different piece of fiction and I read it to you.

The only thing these stories have in common is that I love them and I hope you do too.

I've got another live one for you today.

This one is by the writer Kendra Fortmeyer and was recorded in Austin, Texas.

Kendra is a writer of magical stories of many stripes.

She recently published her debut YA novel Hole in the Middle, a body positive fantasy tale

about friendship and romance, featuring a protagonist with, well, a literal hole through

the center of her body.

She's also a push-cart prize winner and a graduate of the Clarean Science Fiction and Fantasy

Riders' Workshop.

I was also excited to collaborate with an incredible local musician, a master of synths, Peter

Tran.

Peter plays music as part of curved light, HD sunrise and lower dance.

Now I don't want to tell you too much about today's story because it's pretty delicious

to discover it on its own.

And you're definitely going to want to stay tuned after the story ends for my onstage

conversation with Kendra.
