Summary

Catherine, David and Matt were Live at Wimbledon for the first time in 2026 to dissect the singles draws which were made on Friday, headlined by Serena Williams’ return to tennis.

In part one, we discuss what it was like during the draw as we waited for Serena’s name, whether first round opponent Maya Joint counts as a good draw, and how far she might go, including a possible round three clash with Iga Swiatek. There’s also chat about potentially difficult paths for Aryna Sabalenka, Mirra Andreeva and Amanda Anisimova. And why do we have a hunch about Jessica Pegula this fortnight?

Moving on the men’s draw in part two (34:48), there’s reaction to Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic being in the same half, a blockbuster round one between Taylor Fritz and Jack Draper, and a land of opportunity in the bottom half.

We also talk about a moving experience watching the new documentary Chris and Martina: The Final Set.

And behind us are the grounds of SW19 looking absolutely

perfect just a couple of days away from the championships 2026. We see, I mean, look, we

0:47.8

love it when the tennis starts, but we secretly love this time the most, don't we? When it's all

0:54.0

pristine and perfect and we have the place to ourselves?

0:57.6

Yeah, never feel luckier, really, than in these build-up days to Wimbledon.

1:02.9

And, you know, I think the other slams do such an amazing job, obviously, putting on those big opening weeks.

1:08.7

But there is still something special about the way the anticipation builds here

1:13.5

to the start of the tournament,

1:15.0

where it all goes quiet after qualifying at Roampton,

1:17.7

and then it all just arrives on Monday morning.

1:21.6

And, yeah, we're very lucky getting to witness this build-up as the grounds come to life.

1:28.1

Yeah, it's good to be back, David.

1:29.7

Yeah, I've just gone with Matthew for a little walk around the grounds.

1:33.8

We actually forgot a cable, so we went home and got it.

1:36.7

But on the way out of the grounds and getting back in good time for the show,

1:41.3

we walked past Hemman Hill over there there and we had to go around it because

there are signs that say keep off the grass. And it is perfection. I mean, it looks like you

want to just lie on it and just engulf yourself in the most gorgeous mattress in the world.

But no, I mean, what is it?
