Chapter 35 Darcy has written a letter to Elizabeth and found her in order to give it to her.

She reads and rereads it.

The letter promises to not repeat any of his quote loving sentiments.

It is strictly a rebuttal, written to address the accusations she made while rejecting him.

She accused him of two things, one of scheming to separate Bingley and Jane, and two of

cutting off Wickham despite his own father's deathbed wishes.

Darcy ranks the issues in order of importance.

The Jane and Bingley thing is, at worst, the separation of two people who barely knew

each other, he says.

And then the Wickham accusation that he knowingly ruined a man, he tells us is far worse.

He starts with the Jane and Bingley thing to get it out of the way.

As Charlotte Forsaw, he didn't think that Jane was flirting enough with Bingley.

Although his friend was clearly in love, he believed Jane to be indifferent.
