Today, we're sharing a conversation that was recorded in front of a live audience at the Charlotte Business Alliance's annual economic

outlook event. Rick sat down with two friends who also happened to be CEOs of two of the largest

companies headquartered here in Charlotte. Brian Moynihan of Bank of America and Marvin Ellison

of Lowe's Home Improvement. This was an economic outlook event, so the first 10 minutes is all

about the economy and how each CEO plans to navigate

a challenging macro environment. Next, they talk about why they all agree that purpose is good for

business, how their own journeys inspired the way they pay it forward, and just for fun, what their

Hello everybody. It's great to see so many friends. You know, my daughter asked me what I was doing today and I was reminded of Sesame Street song. One of us is not like the others.

So there's three of us here, but one of us is not like the others. So there's three O's here, but one of us is not

like the others. It's really great to have this conversation with both of you, two of your

friends. Let's start. The inflation report came out this morning, I believe it was 3.1%.

It looks like the Fed is going to nail this soft landing after all. Let's start with you, Brian.

You a year ago, stood kind of alone saying, hey, I'm looking at my data and I don't see

what everybody else is saying, including a lot of your peers, saying that we're going to have

a hard landing.

And by the way, I was on that camp too.

So tell us your view of kind of where is the consumer today?

And how does that play in your thinking for next year and next?
