I'm Gretchen Rubin and this is a little happier.

So I often call my sister Elizabeth, my sister of the sage.

And she says, oh, I don't know that I'm such a sage, but she really is a sage.

And one of the things that she does that's very sage-like is she will speak almost in

proverbs.

She will be telling some story and all of a sudden she will bust out with some statement

that perfectly captures a big idea just the way an ancient proverb or saying will capture

some big notion in just a few words.

And so she was telling me a story about her frustration at work because of course she's

a TV writer in Hollywood so she has all kinds of ups and downs and she's got a million

projects going at any one time and some move forward and some stall out and it's all very

confusing.

And I was asking her about some cool project that she was working on and I sort of lost

the thread of what was going on with it.

And I said to her, so what's happening with that project?

And she said, well, we haven't heard anything.

And I said, well, okay, when are you going to hear?

And she said, well, yes, comes right away.

No never comes.

And the minute she said that, I ran to write it down because it had such a ring of wisdom

to it.
