I'm Gretchen Rubin and this is a little happier.

As I often mention, I love teaching stories, co-ins, paradoxes,

aphorisms, fables, proverbs, anything like that.

And sometimes when you're looking for a good teaching story,

a joke makes a good teaching story.

And here is one of my favorite teaching story jokes.

So one night there was a policeman on the beat,

and it was deep in the middle of the night,

and he's walking around making sure everything's under control.

And he happens to notice that there's a man

who's clearly staggeringly drunk underneath the lamp

post looking at the ground, clearly searching,

searching for something on the ground.

And so the policeman walks up and says,

excuse me, sir, can I help you?

Have you lost something?

And the man says, yes, I lost my wallet.

And the policeman says, oh, no, did you drop it here?

A someplace around here?

And the man says, oh, no, I dropped it back there

at the corner of the street, but the lights better here.

And I love this joke.
