0:42.3	the rulers Zerxy I, also known as Zerxes the Great, was marching to Greece.
0:49.2	As he traveled through the countryside, Herodotus recounts,
0:52.8	Zerxes, quote, came across a plain tree of such beauty
0:57.6	that he was moved to decorate it with golden ornaments
1:01.1	and to appoint a guardian for it in perpetuity.
1:05.7	I've seen trees like that myself.
1:08.7	So beautiful that if I could, I would deck them with golden ornaments
1:13.0	and appoint guardians so that they would be protected forever.
1:18.0	Since I've read about what Zerxes did,
1:20.5	I've watched out for those trees more carefully.
