0:23.0	And you might have predicted it from the meditation, some of you that know me well.
0:27.5	I try to gear our meditation some to the theme.
0:32.3	And I guess I'd like to ask you a question first, which is how many of you have an intention
0:39.6	in your life to listen well?
0:42.2	How many is that?
0:43.2	A conscious intention.
0:44.2	Can I see my hands?
0:46.2	Okay, that's a lot of us.
0:49.0	That's a lot.
0:50.3	How many of you feel like you have a good ways to go?
0:55.0	The same hands, okay.
0:58.5	It's not easy, is it?
1:01.0	We go into a very quick trance, even with the best of intentions, as soon as we're with
1:08.3	each other.
1:10.0	And usually there's these strong habits of being preoccupied or having an agenda or being
1:18.8	self-conscious or rehearsing what we're going to say.
1:23.9	It's not so easy, I know.
1:26.6	And really, when you think of it, learning to be present in communications, listening
1:35.1	well is as profound and challenging a training in presence as any other form of meditation.
1:44.6	In a way, when we're just sitting, we have a lot of inner distractions, but we in some
1:49.8	ways, at least partially, sometimes pull ourselves away from all the externals.
