So our whole day was training as a, rather I should say, preparing us for that one hour of meditation.

So then when we actually sat down to meditate, we had 23 hours of training, so to speak,

our preparation, and then that one hour was extremely intense.

Whereas a lot of people take a different approach to meditation and they say,

I'm going to sit down for five minutes and meditate, and then the rest of the day I'm going to be zen.

It doesn't work that way.

I always ask people, what are you doing, the remaining 23 hours in 55 minutes?

That, to me, is more important. When people come up to me, because then I'm all dressed up like a monk and stuff,

so people like to come up and tell me, oh, you know, I meditate 10 minutes a day.

I'm going to go like, that's wonderful. What do you do, the remaining 23 hours in 50 minutes?

Because that's what shapes who you are.
