She didn't know Kamala well, but she knew her reputation and that she'd recently announced her run for district attorney.

San Francisco political scene is literally like high school.

Rebecca had recently chaired a local election campaign

and had worked in Willie Brown's office for five years.

She hadn't been looking to run another campaign,

but she agreed to come in and meet with Kamala and her political consultant.

But it was like a redone basement office,

so it was an open, like there was maybe three desks in there,

and then we were like in the sitting, there was like a little sitting area.
