Scooters have already caught fire with city dwellers, but now it seems

they're actually at risk of igniting. If you've tried riding one of Lyme's, well, lime green scooters,

or just watch someone fly down the street at up to 15 miles an hour, you know it looks like

barrels of fun, not to mention a cheap, easy, and a mission-free way to

get to places. But it's not so much fun if your scooters start smoldering while you're riding it.

That was the danger spotted by Lyme this summer after one of its scooters sitting quietly inside

a lime facility in Lake Tahoe suddenly burst into flames. Workers got the fire out and beat down the flames on a nearby chair and hurriedly threw the

blackened device out into the parking lot.
