Who knew the restaurant reservation business was so cutthroat?

OpenTable has been the default restaurant reservations app for two decades.

By last year, the company owned by Priceline was seeding more than 23 million diners a month worldwide.

But suddenly last year, two upstarts started making inroads into open tables territory,

Reserve, and Resi. Both are geared toward trendy restaurants in major cities. They'll help you get

a table at restaurants foodies love. A recent analysis by the online publication, Recode,

showed that although it is still much smaller than Open Table,

Rezi is gaining on its more established competitor among newer, hipper restaurants.
