Today, Ligon Duncan gives a sermon based on Mark chapter 7, verses 24 through 30.

This message was originally titled, a pagan woman who understands grace,

and was given at TGC's 2019 National Conference in Indianapolis.

This is one of the most interesting conversations with Jesus recorded in the Gospels.

It is also seemingly very awkward and even offensive

and thus perhaps perplexing to us, but there are stores of grace to be found in it

if we will listen carefully.

So let us give attention to God's Holy Word beginning in Mark chapter 7, verse 24.

And from there, he arose and went away to the region of Tyre and Sidon,

and he entered a house and did not want anyone to know, yet he could not be hidden.

But immediately a woman whose little daughter had an unclean spirit heard of him,

and came and fell down at his feet.

Now the woman was a Gentile, a Syrophonician by birth,

and she begged him to cast the demon out of her daughter.
