Summary
Let there be light! Well, certain types of light, at least. That's what we're discussing down at the Movers and Shakers Arms today, where the gang are joined by Professor Glen Jeffery, an expert in the use of light therapies. Why are some lights β like infrared β good for us, whilst others β like UV β are bad? How does light impact on our mitochondria? And, most importantly, what does any of this have to do with Parkinson's?! Join us for a fascinating dive into a less-discussed, but possibly very important, piece in the puzzle of searching for a PD disease modifier.

| 0:00.0 | Before we kick off today's episode, let me just tell you we've had some great news, |
| 0:07.4 | which is that the petition debate will happen on November the 17th. |
| 0:12.5 | Now, it's a lot earlier than we expected, which obviously is fabulous, |
| 0:16.6 | but it does mean that we have very little time to get the MPs prepared. |
| 0:21.2 | I mean, so few people understand what Parkinson's really is. |
| 0:25.3 | And so we're suggesting that if you could write to your MP, that would be wonderful. |
| 0:29.8 | Because the more stories you tell them, the more stories they can tell in the debate, |
| 0:34.0 | and the better the debate will be. |
| 0:36.0 | And the more likely we are to get the five points on |
| 0:38.6 | the parkey charter actually pass. So we have a template for you which you will find at |
| 0:44.2 | parkey petition.com. Tell that form in and that form will take you straight to a pre-populated letter |
| 0:51.1 | which can say just that or you can amend it to tell your own stories, |
| 0:55.5 | which obviously is even better. Many thanks and good luck. |
| 1:05.0 | You're listening to Movers and Shakers, a podcast about Living with Parkinson's. The show is generously |
| 1:10.7 | sponsored by Albion Chambers Bristol, |
| 1:13.1 | a preeminent set of barristers specialising in providing the highest quality legal advice |
| 1:17.8 | and representation in criminal, family, inquest and regulatory law. |
| 1:25.2 | Hello and welcome. I'm Gillian, Lacey Salomon, and we're back in the pub for another episode of Movers and Shakers, the award-winning podcast about Living with Parkinson's. Let's see who's here. |
| 1:36.2 | Paul May he, aren't you? Nicolaus Mostynne. Rory Ketton Jones. |
| 1:39.7 | Right. Okay. Now, as I'm going to say, today's topic is a controversial one. I'll let you in on a secret. |
| 1:45.5 | A couple of the people around this table who will remain nameless for now, but who may well out themselves later, were claiming that this wasn't even a fit topic for conversation. |
| 1:54.7 | I seem to recall that snake oil crept into the conversation once or twice. |
