0:22.7	treat it as a moral subject as well, that it would be wrong to mistreat it and be cruel to it,

0:36.9	to nation states because they could track things like laws and taxes.
0:40.4	The printing press gave rise to religious persecution and wars.
0:44.5	The internet gave rise to decentralized media and the age of conspiracy.
0:49.5	What will AI give rise to?
0:52.4	I think there are several possibilities there.
0:54.6	So one is that the future is just shaped by and dominated by AI minds that have kind
1:02.2	of disconnected themselves ultimately from their human origination in roughly the same way
1:10.5	that we've kind of disconnected ourselves from, I don't know, the great apes
1:14.7	or the Neanderthals, this kind of.
1:19.2	But if we imagine a kind of human society with these AI tools, I think there are like maybe,
1:24.5	there are certainly dynamics that could increase centralization and make centralization more extreme right now.
1:31.3	If you have a totalitarian system, like a dictator, like the dictator can't rule on his own.
1:40.3	You still, even if you are dictated, need a buy-in of some fraction of you need of the population
1:46.0	like at minimum the security forces the military like like some key families maybe so
1:52.7	maybe you need 10% support or something like that to rule but with automation of police forces
1:59.4	and military forces you could imagine an even tighter concentration of power and better abilities to surveil what is going on out in the land to keep track of what everybody's opinion is about the ruler and what they are doing.
