0:00.0	As many of you know, I am a lifelong pianist. I didn't plan on getting into podcasting when
0:06.7	COVID hit in 2020 and my touring was grounded. But with each episode, my love for this creative
0:13.8	outlet has been such an emotional embrace, especially when I hear from you, the listener. But honestly, my life has always been at the piano.

0:34.9	And so the other day, I stumbled upon this incredible gem. It was a four DVD series.
0:40.7	It's an educational master class taught by this really well-known jazz pianist by the name of
0:46.0	Barry Harris. Stick with me. I'm going somewhere, I promise. He was this renowned educator
0:53.3	in a jazz community. I mean, he was just an exceptional mentor and
0:57.7	artists himself and fabulous player. And in my mind, this DVD masterclass was going to help me
1:06.5	continue to grow my skills, right? As a musician, and to really just take me to this next level.
1:13.6	So it arrived and I opened the book that came with the DVDs
1:17.6	and I have to be honest, with a skeptical shake of the head,
1:23.6	I wondered if this was really going to be the key to elevating my playing abilities at the piano.
1:32.1	As I flipped to the pages, I was expecting to dive right into the advanced materials,
1:37.8	like things I'd never seen before, the secrets that were only shared amongst the greats.
1:44.3	And I quickly realize that these lessons, this wealth,
1:49.1	was all basic information.
1:52.7	Almost as if it was Jazz 101.
1:56.6	Why is he starting with such entry-level material?
