Today I start with death and how we as a species have evolved to live longer.

The average age of a human being in the Roman Empire was 28 years.

Although there are people who lived much longer, but the average age was 28 years.

Even a hundred years ago, the average age in the United States was less than 50, the average age. Today the fastest growing segment of the

American population is over the age of 100. The fastest growing segment doesn't mean there are more hundred year olds today than ever before

but it's growing.

It's growing at a fast rate.

And most people feel that this is a result of better hygiene and better nutrition and better living conditions.

So, you know, people used to die in the past of heat stroke

or they froze in the winter or the food was inadequate in nutritional content or they died of

infection in infancy so the of

in infancy, so the advent of antibiotics also helped in reducing the infant mortality

which resulted in people living longer.

As I mentioned, the people over the age of 100 years are the fastest growing segment

of the population most developed countries.

So as people do grow older though, they do get chronic illness.

They're more likely to get diabetes type 2 or cardiovascular disease or

several vascular disease or anything that's associated with low-grade inflammation,

which is almost every chronic illness.

But let's pretend we could reduce this inflammation

or minimize it, then how long would people live up to?
