can't be measured by health or lack of it, can't be measured by size or condition, can't be measured by family, tradition, geography or culture.

It's abundant available to whomever, whenever, and it's the life of Jesus Christ being lived out in the believer. Tossing and turning mulling things over working overtime to measure up. These are familiar

emotions for the high achiever. Today on Insight for Living, Chuck Swindall kicks off the new year with a message designed to

calibrate our expectations.

You see, most of us jump into a new venture with a hefty dose of personal ambition, but those who strive

for perfection ultimately figure out that success on our terms will likely disappoint.

Yes, Jesus wants us to enjoy an abundant life, but on his terms, not ours. Chuck

titled his message, Life as God intended it. And we begin with prayer. How easy it is our father to sing words in a hymn like take my life and let it be a

consecrated lord to thee. It's another thing to live like that. It's another thing to give like that.

And so our Father with this desire to be authentic in our lives, we pray that we shall be people of our word.

We pray that you would enable us through your spirit to connect with the things eternal

as we live on this temporal earth and as we spend our time and effort in so many temporal things.

This is one occasion when we can push aside those things that normally crowd out the eternal.

And we can with full focus give our time and thought,

our worship and attention to things that matter, to things that will last.

We so want to live life as you have intended it to be lived, but there's everything around

us it seems that screams against that.

Even the way we were reared, where we live and perhaps where we work and habits we have formed

over the years.

So we pray as this new year unfolds that we will begin it correctly with the right perspective on things that matter.
