In this fun, punchy, and (hopefully) edifying conversation, Kevin interviews his good friend, Mark Dever, about his conversion, his ministry on Capitol Hill, whether you have to be an extrovert to evangelize, and why Kevin likes G.K. Chesterton and Mark doesn’t.

Greetings and salutations. Welcome back to Life and Books and Everything. I'm Kevin DeYoung, and we have a special episode today. I know they're all special, but this one was recorded at Christ Covenant Church as a part of our

0:23.6

faithful conference, which we host every fall.

0:28.2

And we had the privilege of having Mark Devere from Capitol Hill Baptist Church be our speaker.

0:33.8

And he gave four addresses on healthy churches and healthy members from Saturday night and

0:38.9

then through Sunday. And as a part of the Saturday evening session, I always interview our speaker,

0:47.0

which I enjoy. And Mark is such a good interviewer. And I was able to turn the tables and interview

0:53.8

him. And hopefully you'll enjoy it.

0:56.8

I think it's okay to say it was enjoyable. Hopefully entertaining isn't too strong a word and hopefully

1:04.2

edifying in there as well as we talked for about an hour about Mark's conversion and his ministry on Capitol Hill and life,

1:14.3

and of course, books and a little bit of everything else, including poking fun at each other,

1:20.1

which is some of Mark's love language, and I guess mine as well.

1:25.3

So hopefully you will enjoy that and will benefit from the conversation we had.

1:31.5

I want to mention before we get started with that from Crossway,

1:35.4

creeds, confessions and catechisms, a reader's edition edited by Chad Van Dixhorn.

1:40.9

Chad's a good friend of mine and Chad has done a great job with this book and Crossway has done

1:45.9

a wonderful job putting together creeds, Apostles Creed, Nicene Creed, Belgian Confession,

1:53.0

Hidalore Catechism, Candens, a Dora, Westminster, Shorter Catechism, all sorts of creeds and

1:58.6

confessions in this really handsome reader's edition. In fact,

2:02.6

before Mark drove back up to DC, we went to the RTS bookstore. He got a stack of books,

2:08.5

including two copies of this book, Creed's Confessions and Catechisms, edited by Chad Van Dixhorn.

2:16.7

So do look for a copy.

2:18.2

It's very useful.
