How are you guys doing? I'm doing really really well and I have another super duper magical story to tell all of you and here is a clue.

It has a dragon in it. We like dragons here at Short Stories for Kids. Yes we do and I am so excited to read it to you.

Okay so today's shoutout comes from Kaelin and Kaelin lives in Hawaii and she and her big brother Liam often listen to the stories as they drive on their way to go hiking.

And they would love a story about a pink owl named Kai who has to rescue treasure from dragons with her other colored owl friends.

Okay we like this idea very much Kaelin and we hope that you love your story too. Is everybody ready steady jelly? Okay let's go.

On the islands of Hawaii out in the Pacific Ocean lived an unusual owl called Kai. Unlike the other creatures of the islands the owl named Kai had a special job to do.

He had to protect the wildlife and the people that lived there.

You'd know the owl if you saw it because it was pink in color but not many people ever did. The owl did its best to do its job in secret.

So you would be very lucky if you ever set eyes upon it. Most people in Hawaii had no idea that Kai existed at all.

So I'm sure you can imagine the surprise of two children when Kai appeared before them on a hiking trail.

Kai the owl had been alerted when he'd heard the youngest child a girl softly crying and so had flown through the trees to investigate.

From high on a branch he'd observed the girl and her older brother sat upon a fallen tree trunk. Clearly something was wrong and so Kai flew down to see if it was something he could put right.

Asked Kai as he landed on a sprawling branch of the fallen tree. The two children looked up but didn't seem quite as astonished to meet a talking pink owl as Kai had expected.

Had they just seen something even more extraordinary? It was the older brother that found his voice first.
