What is the first recorded Word of God in Scripture? And the answer to that is light. Let there be light.

Read Genesis 1, and there was light, and it was very good. This was not just his creative work.

It was a revelation of his very nature.

John would write in 1 John chapter 1, verse number 5,

This then is the message which we've heard of him and declare unto you that God is light

and in him is no darkness at all. We come today to the next piece of furniture in the tabernacle.

It points us again to Jesus, as always. We are fully furnished. We find all we need in Christ, and today

we find it in the candle stand. Today we find it in the golden candlestick.

As you enter into the holy place, remember on the right to the north side was that table

of showbread, we've been sitting at that table for a few days, but I'd like you to turn

your attention to the left, would you please, to the south side of that holy

place? Because there is the golden candlestick. It's recorded for us in Exodus chapter number

25. Let's read a few verses beginning in verse number 31, and thou shalt make a candlestick of pure gold.

There it is again, gold deity, symbolic, of course, of the purity and the glory of our God.

Of beaten work shall the candlestick be made. His shaft and his branches, his bowls, his nops,

and his flowers shall be of the same. And six branches should come out of the sides of it.
