Hello, it's just before 11 o'clock on Friday morning.

Yesterday we pre-recorded an episode looking at the Paris Olympics, which about to get underway and we looked at the context of the event,

some of the logistics, some of the security, how Parisians are feeling about it and some of the prospects for the actual sport itself.

Then on Friday morning we woke up to the news that there had been a series of arson attacks on France's high-speed rail network, the T. G. V, which the French Rail Company,

SNCF, described as a massive attack aimed at paralyzing the network,

and which France's transport minister condemned as a series of coordinated malicious acts.

This affected lots of travellers and the disruptions expected to last over the weekend.

It also had a knock-on effect to travelers going to Paris on the Eurostar

from London so that was the start to the Olympics that none of the organizers will have

wanted and you can keep up to date with that as

the story unfolds on BBC News throughout the day including on Radio 4 at 5 PM where

I'm presenting PM.
