Nice to be here at your time of day, 6 a.m.

It's way later than I normally come into the office.

Oh, actually, yeah, there's a lion.

Yeah, yeah.

Yeah. I was just thinking the last time I watched

footage of Joe Biden on my phone and it was dark

was the presidential debate with Donald Trump that

basically led us to this moment which is me watching more of Joe Biden speaking on my

phone in the dark because he's just done his address from the

Oval Office where he well it was billed as explaining to the American people why

he was not going to be the candidate at the election.

I promise to always level with you, to tell you the truth, and the truth, the

sacred cause of this country is larger than any one of us.

And those of us who cherish that cause cherish it so much,

a cause of American democracy itself,

must unite to protect it.

You know in recent weeks it's become clear to me that I need to unite my party in this

critical endeavor. I believe my record as president, my leadership in the

world, my vision for America's future, all married at a second term but nothing nothing can come in the way of

saving our democracy that includes personal ambition.
