doubts about the program from the beginning, from Trump's claimed cost,

to some of the tech being described not really existing yet, to the need for the system to begin

with, to the ability for the system to function, to the likelihood of any system simply being

Nothing has cemented those doubts more than the Congressional Budget Office releasing its

report and estimate.

The headlines are out, but most of them are missing the biggest problems buried in the

report. Because most people who can

read a CBO report don't really understand the systems at play. And those who understand the systems

can't or don't want to read a CBO report. You've probably seen the $1.2 trillion price tag in headlines, because Trump's original

claimed cost was $175 billion.

Even by Pentagon standards, that's a big overrun.

But here's the thing about the $1.2 trillion. That's not the final price, not even close.

The CBO report has a giant list of things that are needed to make the National Missile

Defense System or NMD work that are not included in the cost.
