So today, we're going to talk about Trump's Social Security plans.

This was actually a video I'd planned doing much later, until two Republicans blocked a bill to expand some Social Security benefits.

When that happened, our inbox filled up with questions.

Okay, so we'll talk about that first real quick. There's a bill to expand some social security

benefits primarily for those who receive pensions. Two Republicans used a procedural rule to block it. But the block is temporary. It looks

like it still might get a vote next week. The bill has massive bipartisan support in the House

with around 300 co-sponsors. One of those is the Speaker of the House. It will most likely

get out of the House. The will most likely get out of the House.

The Senate is less clear, but seems likely to pass.

Now, on to Trump's position on Social Security cuts.

Let's start with a Trump quote.

I will not cut one penny from Social Security or Medicare.

Now, let's look at another quote about the same topic.

Quote, there is a lot you can do in terms of entitlements, in terms of cutting, and in terms of also the theft and bad management of entitlements.

It's understandable why people are confused.

He's also proposed a lot of things that don't exactly make fiscal sense.

The committee for a responsible federal budget has a report,

suggesting if Trump's policies are enacted,

it would lead to an increase in Social Security's 10-year cash shortfall by $2.3 trillion through fiscal year 2035.

Make Social Security become insolvent by 2031. It's currently set to become insolvent by 2034. Lead to an across-the-board cut in 2035 of 33%.
