Well, howdy there, Internet people, it's Bell again.

So today, we're going to talk about Trump's SET-Def pick, and then a question at the end.

Trump's nominee for Secretary of Defense is struggling to say the least.

Pete Hexeth was an unconventional choice for SACDF to begin with. As the pressure mounts, it looks like more and more Republican senators are hoping Trump will put somebody else forward.

Hexeth has indicated he has no intention of withdrawing.

Yesterday afternoon, he said,

As long as Donald Trump wants me in this fight, I'm going

to be standing right here in this fight. Rumors out of Mar-a-Lago suggest Trump may not want him

in that fight much longer, as reporting indicates that Trump is already floating replacement

candidates. When the new Senate

comes in, Hegeseth would only be able to lose three Republican votes if all Democratic senators

vote against him. Current vote count says he's down seven Republican votes. That isn't

insurmountable, but it makes his confirmation unlikely.

Republican senators are reportedly using phrases like not going anywhere and doomed to describe his

nomination. Hexeth is putting on a full court press and met with senators to make his case.

And that might help, but he would have to win over a lot more than he's been able to so far.

One of the things that is definitely not helping his prospects is that rumors are flying about

who Trump might choose as a replacement.

And almost all of the replacement nominations are picks that are more in line with what the Senate would like, and some are even popular among senators.

Something major might break, but standing here today, I seriously doubt Heggseth is headed to the cabinet.
