Well, howdy there, Internet people, it's Bell again. So today, we're going to talk about how

Trump paused his tariffs. Canada didn't. Answer a question about the markets and a reminder.

Trump announced tariffs. Pause them. Reannounced and imposed them. then pause some of them again, all in the last

month or so. Currently, the tariffs are on pause, but I stress that's a time of recording.

Trump could reimpose them before this video goes out. But don't worry. If he does,

maybe I'll just save it until he pauses them again.

So, most observers at this point expect Trump to simply declare victory and abandon this

portion of his trade war because his drastic broad tariffs are not getting the reaction he thought

they would. Canada in particular has seen their country unify in

opposition to Trump, to the point where consumers are boycotting U.S. goods entirely.

The government also seems unified in their response and is indicated that even though

Trump has paused the tariffs set to be imposed on Canada, Canada isn't calling

off its first wave of retaliatory trade measures. Canada is even talking about placing a surcharge

on some exports that the U.S. needs. The rhetoric that the U.S. didn't need Canada as a trading

partner fell apart very quickly.

The belief of most is that Trump will move on to the smaller reciprocal tariffs.

Throughout Trump's ups and downs with his trade plans, the market saw ups and downs as well.

When Trump would announce or double down on tariffs, the market generally

fell. When he would back off or pause, they would go up. That trend broke on Thursday,

when Trump posted to social media about a pause, and the market continued to fall.

The administration has said they didn't pause the tariffs this
