So today, we're going to talk about Trump's Yemen success.

Back on May 7th, we talked about Trump's claims about the success of his operation, Rough Rider.

It seems like a lifetime ago, but this was part of the operation involving the whole

journalist being added to the signal chat thing. Trump basically said that the U.S. operation

was a success and that the other side had, quote, capitulated. In that video in May, let's just say I was a little bit

skeptical of the president's framing of the situation, because his framing and declaration of

victory didn't actually match what any of the other parties involved said happened, to include

the mediators. I'll put the link down below.

When speaking about the Houthis, Trump said they, quote, capitulated, but more importantly,

we will take their word that they say they will not be blowing up ships anymore. And that's what the purpose of what we were

doing. That was said on May 6th. Secretary of State Rubio said, quote, this was always a

freedom of navigation issue. You had a band of individuals with advanced weaponry that were threatening global shipping,

and the job was to get that to stop.

At the time, the Houthi said Trump was lying about them capitulating,

that the strikes on shipping would continue until the campaign in Gaza stopped. And Trump, quote, wants to save face

because of the failure of U.S. aggression against Yemen. This week, the Houthi sank two ships

and have promised to continue. The recent developments suggest that what regional experts, non-state actor

experts, and generally most foreign policy experts and observers said at the start of the U.S.

air campaign is true. The Houthis have shown themselves to be a durable organization that has withstood years

of attacks, and that it is incredibly unlikely that an air campaign alone would significantly

degrade their capabilities, especially while they have the backing of Iran.
