So today, we're going to talk about Trump hurting rural red state health care.

In a recent video, I mentioned that even people not on Medicaid will end up losing their current level of access to health care because of the Medicaid cuts.

This led to a lot of confusion and questions. So, we're going to run through the basics and the

chain of events. Unsurprisingly, those who will be most hurt by Trump's policies in the one

big beautiful bill are those who generally supported

Trump in his election. But let's run through how this works. Let's start with some numbers.

According to the American Hospital Association, a little more than 16 million people living

in rural areas are on Medicaid.

In the states of Alaska, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, and Wyoming,

more than half the Medicaid recipients in the state live in rural areas.

Almost 2 million people in rural areas are projected to lose Medicaid coverage because of Trump's bill.

I think it's 1.8 million, but about 1 out of 8 people on Medicaid in rural areas are set to lose their coverage. So that sets the stage to

understand how significant the cuts are in rural areas. Now, let's go over some hospital information.

In 2023, almost half, 48% of rural hospitals weren't profitable. 92 rural hospitals have closed or shut down

inpatient operations over the last 10 years. Now, that should be all the information needed,

but as it stands, about half of rural hospitals are operating at a loss, and one has shut down

operations about every six weeks for the last decade. Now Yank almost 2 million patients. Along

with those patients goes about $5 billion in Medicaid payments per year. 5050 billion over the length of the budget window.
