So today, we're going to talk about Trump not caring if you pay more.

Yeah, I think most people knew that, but it's still kind of weird to hear him say it himself.

Reporting came out that said Trump told U.S. automakers not to raise prices in response to his

tariffs. The reporting said it left them feeling worried about Trump engaging in punitive

actions against them if they did. Trump was confronted with this by the press, and he responded

with, quote, no, I never said that. I couldn't care less if they raise prices

because people are going to start buying American-made cars. I couldn't care less. I hope they

raise their prices because if they do, people are going to buy American-made cars. We have plenty. Reminder, the reporting says he was talking

to U.S. car makers. It's also important to remember that many American-made cars use imported

parts and will be impacted by Trump's tariffs. Trump's tariffs are slated to go into effect on

April 2nd and are set to impose a 25% tax on imported cars and car parts. We've looked at the

estimates from various economists, and it looks like it will raise the cost of the average car sold

by around $4,500. Those are

American-made cars. Trump supporters will say this will cause companies to move factories to the U.S.

The simple question there is, do you believe that companies who are currently importing from

other places because production costs are the same,

and then just adding on the transportation costs for fundies and because they hate their bottom line?

Of course not.

The costs are different.

It costs more to produce in the U.S.

So even in the ideal scenario proposed by supporters of the policies, the cost for cars still
