Well, howdy there, Internet people, it's Bell again.

So today, we're going to talk about Trump, Greenland, Louisiana, and a failure to understand the situation.

On Sunday, Trump announced that he'd appoint Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry to serve as the U.S. special envoy to Greenland.

Greenland is a special territory of the Kingdom of Denmark.

Landry is not accredited by the kingdom for any diplomatic role.

When making the announcement, Trump said, quote,

Jeff understands how essential Greenland is to our national security

and will strongly advance our country's interests for the safety, security, and survival of our allies, and indeed the world.

Landry said it was a quote,

Honor to serve you in this volunteer position

to make Greenland a part of the U.S.

Denmark's foreign minister indicated

they would be summoning the U.S. ambassador,

which is kind of a big deal diplomatically, and said, quote, I am deeply upset by this appointment of a special

envoy, and I am particularly upset by his statements, which we find completely unacceptable.

Okay, let's get into the realities of this.

Landry has no real foreign policy experience, and certainly not the kind that would be necessary to facilitate something like this. Aside from that, it isn't even going to be his full-time job. He's still going

to serve as governor of Louisiana. I wonder how the people in Louisiana feel about their

governor moonlighting in a foreign country instead of, you know, taking care of their state. I'm going to put a link down below

to show that Louisiana currently ranks 50th in a survey that considers the economy, infrastructure,

public safety, environment, the fiscal stability of the state, health care, education, opportunity for
