Well, howdy there, Internet people, it's Bell again. So today, we're going to talk about Trump,

Elon, Social Security promises, and math. Republicans in Congress are apparently starting to feel

the heat from some of Elon's spicier takes when it comes to social safety nets. Even the White

House has made comments trying to

send a message that's different from Elon's public statements. Doge reportedly wants to cut

12% of the Social Security workforce, close offices, and alter the way things are done. Many see that

as a backdoor to cutting payments and recipients.

But really, it's Elon's public statements that are raising the most eyebrows.

Recently, he said, quote, Social Security is the biggest Ponzi scheme of all time.

He also recently suggested that $500 billion to $700 billion in cuts to what he called

entitlements could be on the way. He said, quote, most of the federal spending is entitlements.

That's the big one to eliminate. Statements like this and the Commerce Secretary saying that people wouldn't complain if they

missed a Social Security payment, understandably have recipients nervous. Some of those people

must be making calls to their reps. Many are giving off-the-record comments to the press

complaining about Elon's statements,

but only a few are publicly saying it.

After pointing out that the billionaire isn't worried about needing Social Security,

Senator Lisa Murkowski said, quote,

It worries Americans all over the country.

This is why Social Security has been kind of viewed as the

untouchable from a political perspective. Obviously, when a senior White House advisor starts talking

about the need to eliminate entitlements, people who paid into the system their entire lives
