So today, we're going to talk about Trump, drones, and hysteria.

Remember in December when the country was abuzz with reports about drones over the Northeast?

As time went on, potential explanations got more and more bizarre politicians got in on the act talking

about everything from iran motherships to insinuating that the biden administration was keeping a secret

the sound bites statements and fuzzy footage fed media reports playing into easily debunked claims.

Those media reports fed anxiety. That anxiety fed more sightings of drones, which fed more and more

wild claims. Large portions of the country were convinced that something nefarious was going on.

There were claims of the government faking an alien invasion.

There were claims of foreign actors.

There were claims of a loose radiological device and that the drones were looking for it,

but only at night for some reason.

The claims said it was anything except what all the experts said it was, normal drones.

Trump got in on spreading panic and fear by saying, quote,

because the people are really, I mean, they happen to be over Bedminster.

They're very close to Bedminster.

I think maybe I won't spend the weekend in Bedminster.

I've decided to cancel my trip.
