Well, howdy there, Internet people, it's Bell again. So today, we're going to talk about Trump,

distractions, and Murphy. I think most political observers, regardless of political affiliation,

would admit that Trump uses distractions. He likes to change the new story when he finds himself in a bind.

This leads to the belief and to a lot of comments, saying that whatever weird thing Trump is

doing is a distraction and therefore should be ignored. I think we might be falling victim to one

of Murphy's laws on that one. There's the standard Murphy's

law. If it can go wrong, it will. Most people have heard of that one. There's also about a hundred

others because Murphy was a grunt. One of Murphy's laws of combat says, the diversion you're

ignoring is the main attack. What happens

when Trump says or does something that's completely out of line, like hypothetically sharing

a post about the Bidenator? It's a pattern, right? He didn't do that. And if he did, he didn't

mean that. And if he did, you didn't understand him that and if he did he didn't mean that and if he did you didn't understand him and it was

right anyway whatever issue you think is the most important issue trump has support because his

base believes anything he says and therefore will support anything he wants to do without question.

Allowing them to run through the cycle with his distractions allows them to get into the

habit of defending things they know they don't agree with because of groupthink and echo chambers.

If you can't break that cycle when he shares a post about Biden

actually being a robot for four years, there's a zero chance of breaking that cycle when he wants

to cut their Medicaid to give tax cuts to the wealthiest of Americans. If you're defending an area

and there's a persistent diversion and you

don't respond to it in some way, eventually the opposition will realize you aren't responding

on that side and will commit more and more forces to it until eventually it isn't a diversion.
