So today, we're going to talk about Trump's planned cuts, perceptions, and a message.

Trump, and those likely to be on his team, have talked a lot about all of the cuts to government spending they want to make.

On the channel, I've made it clear that I think some of the cuts they're considering are

bad ideas.

But I also got this message.

I get it.

You don't want to see social safety nets cut.

But surely there's waste that can be cut.

You're sending out the message that you don't

think any cuts should happen. Have you seen the research we're funding? I can't even guess

why the government is funding some of it. There's summaries on social media. I can send you

some if you want. There's trillions in government waste. Just a thought.

I've seen some of those summaries. There is some weird stuff out there. There's a thing where they tested the vision of aquatic animals.

Yeah, Flipper gets an eye doctor, but Americans don't have health care. They spent

five years, five years, trying to teach a cat to follow commands. It didn't work. They spent a ton

of money, seeing how much force monkeys could stand before passing out.

They funded gender studies in Afghanistan.

That seems useful.

They used money, apparently, trying to find a way to control insects.

Not like pesticides, but to be able to control their movements.

They spent an unimaginable amount of money on something called the Laboratory for Development of Substitute Materials, which was smashing magic rocks.
