Well, howdy there, Internet people, it's Bell again.

So today, we're going to talk about Canada's new PM, rejecting Trump on his very first day.

Then, we're going to talk a little bit about Greenland.

Mark Carney was sworn in as Canada's new prime minister, along with his cabinet.

Carney is kind of a political outsider, whose main skills lie in economic matters.

From 2008 to 2013, he was the governor of the Bank of Canada. That's their central bank.

Then from 2013 to 2020, he was the governor of the Bank of England. That's their central bank. Then from 2013 to 2020, he was the governor of the Bank of England. That's their

central bank. So Canada has made a real economist with a lot of expertise and monetary policy

their prime minister at a time of great economic turmoil. To put this in an American context, we've talked a lot about Federal Reserve

Chair Jerome Powell and how he guided the U.S. through economic uncertainty to stick the soft

landing. They just put a more experienced Jerome Powell in charge. This isn't the sign of a country

ready to buckle to Trump's trade demands

or annexation ideas. If his selection wasn't enough to telegraph the Canadian resolve,

his words might be. Shortly after being sworn in, he took that moment to put forth a clear position.

Quote, I've been clear. The ministers behind me,

I think, to an individual, when asked, have been clear. We will never, ever in any way,

shape or form be part of the United States. When asked about statements by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, suggesting that Canada would be better off as a state, he said, quote, it's crazy. It's very simple.

That's all you can say. For Americans who still might not be completely aware of how serious the situation has grown and how serious Canada is taking it,

imagine a president being asked about a longtime ally absorbing the United States on inauguration day.

This has progressed far beyond memes and jokes. It's become a significant international

affair. Carney also gave a little bit of his strategy, saying, quote, what you will see from

this government is focusing on building here at home, building with different partners abroad.
