Well, howdy there, Internet people, it's Bell again. So today, we're going to talk about

Trump beating Schumer, misreading the moment and the public, and questions. So, the government

shutdown has been averted. Ten Democrats cited with Republicans on the key procedural vote. Republican Rampaul voted against it.

Some of the Democrats who voted to move the resolution ahead and through the filibuster,

then voted against the actual continuing resolution. Undoubtedly, that was intended to help

them in messaging later. That's likely to backfire. The Republican

Party moved their continuing resolution through the Senate even though Democrats fully had the

power to stop it. And as far as I can tell, the only concession they got was a billion dollars

in funding for the city of D.C. Schumer was praised by Trump and called

out by his own party. Then we have questions. Bell, in your first video, you explained that there

were actually upsides to letting the resolution go ahead. Why is it now just all bad? In that video, I went over both

options and explained how each has its pros and cons. One of the key benefits of allowing it to

move ahead was that the Democrats didn't have to do a lot of messaging. They just had to rely on

Republican dysfunction. They instead had to rely on Republican dysfunction.

They instead chose to message like they were going to block it and then back down,

giving Republicans a win and uniting them, reducing their dysfunction. The other question is

whether this is a strategy to let Republicans run wild before the midterms.

An accelerationist strategy could have been used here, but when you look at the Senate Democrats that

voted to let this get past the filibuster, that's ridiculously unlikely. They're pretty much all

institutionalists. If it had been the progressives that did this,

sure, maybe that's the plan. You know, let the people feel the effects before the midterms

to encourage voter turnout. But I just can't believe these senators have adopted that plan.
