Summary

Data and metrics really can help you on your weight loss journey.  However, wisdom is needed on your part to know when you should track and when it is okay to not worry about it.  Contrary to what you might think, you don't actually need to track everything all of the time.  Just at the right times.

Hello and welcome to the Chris Terrell podcast. My name is Chris Terrell.

0:15.1

Welcome to another episode. So I'm just going to go ahead and get this out of the way.

0:19.7

I have been riddled with technical difficulties.

0:23.4

I have been upgrading my entire home office setup, new computer.

0:28.2

And, well, let's just say that I have experience of unexpected setbacks,

0:32.5

which is what has unfortunately caused the Monday and Tuesday episodes to come out erratically and then even not at all.

0:38.9

So I will be taking some time this weekend to work through them all, get them all fixed so I can get back on track.

That was unexpected on my end. But the Friday episode

0:57.4

continues. However, with that being said, this will be the last episode for a week. I'm going to be

1:05.2

taken a week off from the podcast next week to begin season four of the Christchral podcast. And so we'll be continuing on. So just know

1:14.5

that there will be no episode next week, but more will be coming right after that. So don't worry.

1:21.0

I'm not going anywhere. But let's get to the topic. No more deli-dallying around.

1:28.1

Let's just get to it.

1:29.3

I want to start with a quote.

1:31.0

When performance is measured, performance improves.

1:34.6

When performance is measured and reported, the rate of improvement accelerates.

1:40.8

This is a business principle that I learned. And I applied it in my previous career in management, and it works.

1:50.4

I can tell you, what you monitor, what you measure will stay consistent, and it will improve, especially if humans are touching it, because humans are two things, wildly inconsistent by nature,

2:03.6

and incredibly biased as to their own performance and their own reality, because memory can

2:08.6

be a fickle thing sometimes and perception is reality.
