Well, howdy there, Internet people, it's Bell again.

So today, we're going to talk about the GOP losing Miami and what it means.

In yet another absolutely devastating swing for the Republican Party

and sign of the state of Trumpian popularity before the midterms.

The Trump endorsed candidate for Mayor of Miami lost, Bigley. Higgins won by about 19 percentage

points. There was also a pretty resounding defeat for Trump and Republicans in Georgia's 121st district as well.

Democrats won a district Trump won by 12 points in the last election.

But Miami will definitely be getting the press because of visibility and what it really says.

In a Tuesday runoff, the people of Miami elected Eileen

Higgins as mayor. She's the first woman elected as mayor in the city's history, and the

first Democrat elected since the late 1900s. This continues the trend of Democrats drastically

overperforming in areas that are traditionally

Republican. Florida Democratic Party chair Nikki Freed said, quote, tonight's victory shows that

the pendulum is swinging in our favor and that when we commit to relentless year-round organizing and invest in a long-term

strategic field program, we can in fact win. Organizing and pushing the party definitely had

something to do with it. It's also worth noting that the population of Miami has quickly grown tired of

Trumpian policies, from the decline in tourism nationwide hitting Miami as a whole,

to immigration policies, to his tariffs hitting Miami's port, to rhetoric about everything

south of the border.

Trump's statements just hit different in Miami.

Higgins seems to be keenly aware of this.
