| 0:00.0 | Well, howdy there, Internet people, it's Bell again. So today, we're going to talk about how the |
| 0:07.2 | Republican attempt to get rid of the Department of Education is shaping up. We talked about how it |
| 0:13.8 | might lead to some potential friction within the Republican Party, because like many things, |
| 0:19.0 | dealing with the last election cycle, the rhetoric doesn't really |
| 0:22.6 | match the reality. There was a lot of over-promising going on. You still have some promising a |
| 0:30.0 | single-sentence piece of legislation that literally just ends the Department of Education. |
| 0:35.8 | But there's more focus on the other end of the |

| 1:29.5 | education, idea, and so forth. All of that is included in a redirection to other locations, |
| 1:36.9 | but all those offices still remain. Like many simple things, the Republicans promised on the campaign |
| 1:43.3 | trail, when they start to take |
| 1:45.6 | a look at the details, well, it's not so simple anymore. Even advocacy groups dedicated to getting |
| 1:53.1 | rid of the Education Department are cautioning against getting rid of the department without |
| 1:58.0 | redirecting the funding. A number of Republican senators have acknowledged |
| 2:02.8 | they aren't going to get the votes needed in the Senate. They seem to now just want to focus |
| 2:08.5 | on eliminating the personnel, drawing attention to the education department's 4,000 or so |
