So today we're going to talk about a call for J.D. Vance to resign.

Casey Weinstein, an Ohio State House Representative Representative has publicly called for

JD Vance to resign. The call for the resignation stems from Vance spreading

unfounded rumors about the Haitian community in Springfield, Ohio.

Just as an aside, for some reason, a lot of coverage is labeling Weinstein as a senator.

That's incorrect.

The Democratic representative took to social media to say quote in the wake of J.D. Vance

admitting he created the pet eating story and as a result of the very real threats the communities and people he has targeted are now under,

I'm calling on him to resign as our senator.

Below the call for Vance to resign, Weinstein included a clip of the interview, a Vance using the term created.

For clarity, when pressed, Vance attempted to clean up the statement and say that he meant he created the media focus, not the bogus claims.

But those unfounded claims are what was used to create the media focus.

At least part of the sentiment appears to be shared by Ohio State Representative Michelle

Grimm, who shared a similar clip and said, quote, here's our state's junior senator bragging about terrorizing

Ohioans with malicious lies in order to change the subject in the national

election he's losing.

Vance is leaning into the idea that he didn't create the claims, just the focus.

The Trump campaign has promised federal action in Springfield based on the claims.

Can we just stop to acknowledge that this really boils down

to the Trump team basically saying

they will base policy on unverified Facebook post?
