So today, we're going to talk about the big day for Trump and Johnson, the problems they're facing, and why it matters.

Today is the day, and in just a few hours from when you see this, the House will begin voting on a Speaker of the House.

The effectiveness of Trump's first 100 days and the level of discord in the House for

the next two years will be determined by the votes today.

Trump has used a bunch of political capital to help Johnson keep his job, and maybe he'll be successful.

But even if he is, this whole thing is just a bad situation for Trump world.

The speaker determines the legislative agenda. Chaos and a lack of support doesn't bode well.

So, Trump issued a public endorsement and reportedly mounted a

pressure campaign for Johnson. However, at time of recording, there's still reportedly one guaranteed

no vote, and then a dozen or so possible swing votes. If you're going to be watching the vote, keep your eyes

on Biggs, Burchett, Burleson, Cloud, Clyde, Crane, Harris, Norman, Perry, Roy, Sparts, and

Stube. There were some members who have taken tough stances against Johnson,

like the Space Laser Lady, who have fallen in line with Trump's wishes, but there's still

enough to present an issue. Some people are drawing parallels to the dynamic that ousted McCarthy.

But there's a bit of a difference. During the McCarthy

mess, it was personal. This is more about policy. Well, it's as close to policy as Republicans

get right now. The problem for Johnson is that he's being warned by his current supporters in the House

to not give the holdouts too much on the policy front.

One of the reasons McCarthy's speakership collapsed was because he gave too much to get the job done.

He gave the fringe of his party too much power.
