Well, howdy there, internet people, it's Bell again. So today, we're going to talk about Bernie

backing Trump, kind of. Bernie Sanders is ready to back Trump up. During the 2024 campaign,

Trump made a number of promises that were not traditional conservative positions. Some were straight up

progressive. At a rally in Savannah, Georgia, Trump said, quote, while working Americans catch up,

we're going to put a temporary cap on credit card interest rates at 10%. We have no choice. They're getting 22%, 25%. We can't let people

have to pay 25% and 22% interest because they can't afford to pay off their credit card.

A cap on credit card rates of 10%. Most people familiar with economics rolled their

eyes and assumed nobody would believe Trump. And we were wrong. A lot of people did believe him.

Now, Senator Sanders wants to hold Trump to his promise. Shortly after Trump made his promise,

Sanders put out a statement saying, quote, I look forward to working with the Trump administration

on fulfilling his promise to cap credit card interest rates at 10%. We cannot continue to allow big banks to make record profits by ripping off

Americans by charging them 25 to 30 percent interest rates. That is usury. But in the last few

days, Sanders brought it up again, saying, quote,

During the recent campaign, Donald Trump proposed a 10% cap on credit card interest rates.

Great idea.

Let's see if he supports the legislation that I will introduce to do just that.

Obviously, that last line indicates that Sanders isn't totally sold on the idea

that Trump wants to actually help those in debt.

There's no clear public positioning from Congress on the issue.

Most experts will tell you it's a horrible idea

because credit will dry up for those with lower credit

scores. Basically, credit card companies will say they're too much of a risk and deny them
