Well, howdy there, internet people. It's Spell again.

So today, we're going to talk about Senators selling out their voters to save Trump's feelings.

Republican Senators voted 52 to 47 for the $70 billion package to fund immigration and customs enforcement and border patrol

for the next three years. But before they could get it approved, they had to endure a

voterama, which is a process where Democrats can offer amendments. These amendments are sometimes used to make small worthwhile adjustments

to benefit Americans. But in the Trump era, they've mainly been used to put Republicans on record

for their votes that harm Americans, that they agreed to simply because Trump told them to.

In this case, Republicans, some of whom spent the week, assuring their voters,

they didn't support Trump's weaponization fund,

and talking about how bad it is, and how much the settlement set off alarm bells.

We're given the chance to stop the fund they told their constituents they didn't support.

They refused to stop it.

They voted against stopping it.

Those senators lied to their base.

Republican Senator Tom Tillis of North Carolina said, quote,

If Blanche says this is largely inoperative, why not use this moment to codify that? Otherwise,

you're exposing every one of our members who are in cycle to having to deal with this between today and

election day. And that makes no sense for something that the DOJ says they're not moving forward with.

Oh, Senator Tillis, it makes complete sense if you simply acknowledge that the real purpose of Republicans in Congress

right now is to protect Trump's delicate feelings. See, if Blanche simply says he won't do it,

then Trump gets to pretend he wasn't necessarily wrong, but just those evil courts decided against him.

But if Republicans in Congress actually voted to stop the thing they said they opposed,
