Well, howdy there, Internet people, it's Bell again. So today, we're going to talk about

Republican Freudian slips. Republican Senator Joni Ernst tried to defend the one big, beautiful

bill at a town hall in Parkersburg, Iowa. It didn't go well, at all. Like other town halls in which Republicans

tried to defend the Trump agenda to their voters, it devolved into groans and booze.

Voters that congressional Republicans need to get reelected are now seeing the effects of the

policies in black and white, rather than just hearing

grandiose promises from Trump. Tipped employees are finding out that no taxes on tips

doesn't really mean they'll have more money. Well-paid union workers are finding out that the

no taxes on overtime doesn't really mean no taxes on overtime.

It means a tax deduction that many of the policy's biggest supporters won't be eligible for.

We've actually seen that in the comments section a couple of times now.

The one big beautiful bill is being seen more and more as a

giveaway for the wealthy at the expense of the most vulnerable. But Senator Ernst didn't run into

trouble trying to explain the tax cuts that don't help those on the bottom. She was trying to explain away the massive Medicaid

cuts by implying it was about fraud. She was told flatly that the cuts would kill people,

that people would die. The senator replied by saying, quote, well, we all are going to die. The groans and gasps and

boos understandably followed that comment. The senator continued, quote, so for heaven's

sakes, for heaven's sakes, folks, what you don't want to do is listen to me when I say that we are going to focus on

those that are most vulnerable. Those that meet the eligibility requirements for Medicaid, we will

protect. The senator is right about that. People don't want to listen to her say that they are going

to focus on the most vulnerable
