So today, we're going to talk about New Orleans and what we can learn.

By now, I would imagine most people have heard about what happened.

We'll go through what happened, but we're going to go through what you might have already heard, because of course, a lot of it

is wrong. Oftentimes, early reporting on an event is wrong. The quest to be first often makes

journalistic ethics slide, and sometimes people intentionally generate false and misleading

narratives to further a political goal.

Or they suffer from confirmation bias and jump to conclusions off the smallest shred of evidence,

or hint of evidence.

If you haven't heard, a person drove a vehicle onto Bourbon Street at a high rate of speed.

The number of people lost is at least 10. That number is likely to climb. The person then reportedly

exited the vehicle and exchanged fire with law enforcement. After a brief exchange, the suspect ceased

to be.

The suspect is a U.S.-born Army veteran from Texas driving a rented pickup.

Many of you probably heard something else.

The people who told you that intentionally or unintentionally misled you.

Much of the early reporting has absolutely no basis in fact.

Some of it is literally just made up and caught on and spread. They played you. I would go back and

check to see their record and if they have a habit of getting other critical information wrong. If there's a

pattern of getting information wrong and it always supports their political view, it's probably
