mayor of Miami. The mayor of Miami has announced that they are going to seek the Republican Party nomination for

president. So we're going to talk about that, what it means, what the mayor may be trying to actually

accomplish, and whether or not he has a shot.

Okay, so let's start there. Does he have a shot of getting the Republican nomination?

Probably not. Probably not. It would be...

This is a real long shot move here.

It doesn't seem incredibly likely that Mayor Suarez gets anywhere.

At the same time, nobody has ever accused this man of not

understanding politics. Nobody has ever accused him of being unintelligent.

He understands that it is incredibly unlikely that he actually gets the nomination from the Republican Party. So why is he doing it? I think the simple answer

here is that he's trying to raise his profile on the national and state stage to set the conditions to run for Senate or Governor or

maybe actually run for president later.

Some have suggested that it's going to be an audition for vice president.

Maybe, maybe. I don't think that this is just the mayor suddenly deciding, hey, I can win this.

I don't think he believes that I think this is a very calculated

move to raise his profile to put him in a position to win in other places later.

Now, what does it mean?

Because, just because he's unlikely to win

doesn't mean that this is a completely irrelevant endeavor.

It's Miami, Florida. He is pretty popular in Miami.

He's a mayor that is pretty popular there.
